As part of their academic field trip to the Central and Western Regions of Ghana, students from the Department of Fisheries and Watershed Management (DFWM) made a stop at Princess Catholic Junior High School in Princess Town.
The visit aimed to address pressing issues affecting the youth in the community, with a strong emphasis on discouraging school dropouts, early pregnancies, and involvement in social vices, factors known to hinder both the academic and personal development of many young people in the area.
The visiting team engaged the pupils in heartfelt discussions, sharing personal stories of perseverance, discipline, and the transformative power of education.
They stressed that with determination and focus, every student, regardless of background, has the potential to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society.
As a gesture of goodwill and encouragement, the team also distributed branded T-shirts and pens to the pupils as mementos of the visit, leaving a lasting impression on the young learners.
The headmaster of the school expressed heartfelt appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its timeliness and positive impact.
“We are extremely grateful to you, the students and your leadership, for organizing this outreach,” he said.
“Despite receiving very short notice about some behavioural challenges among the students here, you came with positivity and purpose. Your presence and message have truly made a meaningful impact,” he remarked.
For many of the students, the visit to the school was a highlight of the field trip, providing a meaningful opportunity for reflection and a renewed appreciation of their progress along their academic journey.
